Behavioral Science is one of the branches of Psychology which is dedicated to the behavior of human beings and animals. It is a Social science modeled on principles of Natural Science - it include observation, experiments and statistical method.
Behavioral Science can be used in two main areas - in Psychology, as one of the methods of communication with patient, and in Political Science, in order to determine and affect behavior and actions of people aimed at achieving their political goals.
Methods of Behavior Science
Behavioral Science uses two main methods of researching the behavior - observation in artificially created conditions and observation in a natural habitat. Firstly, studies in the field of behaviorism are carried out on animals, and when the pattern is created, observations are repeated on human beings.
Entry requirements for Behavioral Science applicants
Those who wish to apply for an undergraduate study program in Behavioral Science need to have A grades in Biology and sometimes Social Sciences. Many universities ask Russian applicants to complete at least one year of relevant undergraduate education in Russia and demonstrate high GPA grades, but it is not a mandatory requirement for every foreign university.
Applicants for foreign universities need also to prove a language proficiency. Those whose native language is other from English need to submit the results of TOEFL, IELTS or other equivalent language certificate since most study programs which can be found on our website are taught in English.
Program structure
Behavioral Sciences can be taught as undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate study programs. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science (or Master of Science) degree, sometimes universities offer Bachelor of Arts (or Master of Arts) degree in this area.
The curricula of study programs in the field of Behavioral Sciences usually includes basic courses in Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, mostly Biology. The most significant difference between study programs in Behavioral Science and Psychology is that study program in Behavioral Science will most likely include human and animal biology, and make emphasis on neuroscience, while Psychology study programs are more theoretical. Some study programs in Behavioral Sciences include Chemistry and Biophysics. Statistics courses is also one of the important parts of a degree in Behavioral Science, since the statistical method is one of the most important in observations.
The curricula consists of laboratory and theoretical lessons (lectures and seminars).
Undergraduate study programs in Behavioral Sciences can last from three to five years - it depends on the chosen institution and country. All students work on their research project and demonstrate it by the end of the education. In addition, graduates must pass the final exams in order to receive a diploma.
