Renaissance History

Renaissance is the period in world history between the Middle Ages (Medieval Period) and Modern History. Renaissance Period started in Italy in 14th century and by 15th century it spreaded all over the  Europe.

The main features of the Renaissance - the revival of cultural traditions of the ancient period of history, the emergence of a huge number of works of art - sculptures, paintings, music.

In the Renaissance, God ceases to be the central figure in art, the attention of artists is drawn to man and humanity. There is a whole pleiad of atheistic philosophers who oppose the church and against its influence on humanity.

The Renaissance caused a rise in literacy among the European citizens, which provoked the appearance of Protestantism and the translation of sacred books into European languages.

The Renaissance caused rejection by the Catholic Church, which was executing philosophers and thinkers (for example, Giordano Bruno in 1600) and prohibiting atheistic philosophical works. It had an effect for a while, but the technical and cultural progress could not be stopped.

Renaissance studies is deeply connected with philosophy, culturology and art history, so students who chose to study Renaissance receive a strong background in these fields.
