Industrial Design

Industrial design is a subdiscipline of Design Studies, which aim is creating design for mass production objects. An industrial designer creates and executes design solutions for problems relationship of form and function. Industrial design includes the following fields: user interface design, information design, and interaction design. Different study programs make emphasis on one of these fields.

Industrial Design program is creative discipline: study process often includes a variety of workshops and internships in different companies. Some universities encourage their students to spend a year studying abroad.

How to apply?

Some universities request a work portfolio (on a CD or DVD) from undergraduate and postgraduate applicants. Language fluency is always required, applicants should provide results of TOEFL, IELTS or other English proficiency certificates. Undergraduate applicants should demonstrate a high GPA result from their high school.

Applicants for Masters program should hold a Bachelors degree in relevant area (architecture, graphic design, industrial design, etc).

Future career

Graduates from Bachelor and Master programs of Industrial Design can start their career as industrial designers in a firm or become a freelance designer. PhD graduates can start a research and teaching career in government or private institutions.
