Workshop for young journalists from Europe

Journalists from the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine) and Russia are invited to take part in a workshop dedicated to the problems of financing independent journalistic projects.

Independent journalism in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia is going through a difficult time.Funding for independent projects undoubtedly influences democratic processes in journalism.The weeklong workshop in Germany focuses on both aligning practical issues and ethical standards, as well as information on how to fundraise independent journalism projects in the context of the digital age.

The duration of the program is 1 week (September 7-14, 2017), in addition, participants will be able to visit different editions of Berlin and Potsdam for two days.The program ends with a general colloquium.

The organizers pay for the participants accommodation in Berlin, as well as the flight.Visa assistance is also provided.

Who can participate?

The workshop is open for young (18-27 years old) journalists from the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.

How to apply?

To apply for the program, you must write an essay covering the following topics:

  1. Name the existing journalistic projects existing in your country, analyze their effectiveness. List the main factors that make it difficult to finance independent projects in your country.

  2. Develop a concept for a journalism project that could function in your country or around the world. Describe the content of the project, target audience and possible funding methods.

In addition to the essay (6000 characters), the application must include a resume and a cover letter.Deadline - June 12, 2017.
