Masters degree in engineering

Engineering is not a single area of study, but rather a wide array of different subjects which may include robotics, medical technology, civil engineering and dozens of other specializations. Engineering degrees are very valuable today, especially in developed countries: innovations are often driven by those with engineering background.

Aerospace engineers focus on aircrafts’ design and construction. Students may usually choose between different specializations, including aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering. Students choosing civil engineering degree will learn how create important structures which are widespread in our world, such as building, bridges, roads and airports. Civil engineers design projects and manage and control the entire process of construction.

Some engineering degrees may be multidisciplinary and require some background in natural sciences. For instance, master’s programs in Biomedical Engineering require solid knowledge of biology or even an undergraduate degree in Biology or Medicine, while Chemical Engineering degree is well-suited for those with strong Chemistry background. Computer Engineering is about the design of hardware platforms, while Software Engineering is about software systems. This field of study is relatively new, but is very popular among students. Other potential specializations include Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering and some others.

Prospective students may choose between bachelor’s and master’s engineering degrees according to their needs. PhD programs are also available for those who want to pursue a career in academia.
