The Master's programme Mediterranean Archaeology deals with the ancient Mediterranean world, from the Bronze Age to the Late Roman Empire.

The Master's programme Mediterranean Archaeology interlinks with the long, yet very current, disciplinary traditions of the UvA and the VU University, which include attention for the study of the basis of archaeology, objects and – for interaction and connection – also creators and users. A shared strength of the UvA and the VU is their long tradition of performing research in the Mediterranean area. This can be seen from the large amount of fieldwork projects in Italy and Greece, as well as the museum collections in the Allard Pierson Museum. ACASA: Archaeology in Amsterdam As of September 2012, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and VU University Amsterdam (VU) will offer a joint Master's in Archaeology via the Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA). This pooling of resources means you will have the choice between various course packages, as well as the opportunity to specifically prepare yourself for a professional career, be it in commercial archaeology, policy archaeology or academic research. You will attend lectures at both the UvA and the VU.
