This two-year program builds on your associate degree and prepares you to advance into such positions as business manager, sales representative, or production supervisor in a variety of fields, including manufacturing, retailing, construction, financial institutions, and government.

Course Content

Professional Track: If you have a specialized associate degree, such as construction technology, legal assistance, retail fashion merchandising, or others this is an excellent program for you. You will find this program attractive for building a solid knowledge of business and management upon your technical expertise. It is also great for you who have an associate in business who would like to add technical or specialized training to your credentials. Business Administration-Pro Track will prepare you for the rapidly changing nature of the work environment in business, government and other nonprofit organizations and equip you with the skills you need for entry-level positions as well as advancement. Building upon a core of business courses, the program features a tight sequence of major courses; however, the program also provides the flexibility to specialize in an area you want. This major is also valuable as preparation for law school, as well as for graduate studies in business.

Aviation(Traverse City only): To meet your needs in the Northwestern Michigan College Flight Technology Program, Ferris and NMC partner to offer a program that prepares you to become highly qualified pilots who are also skilled in the business world. In the first two years of study you should expect to earn your commercial pilot certificate with single-engine and multi-engine ratings, instrument rating, flight instructor certificate, and 210 total flight hours. In your third and fourth years of study you will complete the business courses that will prepare you to not only fly, but to lead.

Culinary Management(Grand Rapids only): This renowned program available in Grand Rapids provides an avenue for immediate employment and for advancement to upper levels of management. Employers are seeking for you for positions ranging from general manager and food sales representative to chef, production supervisors and special event planner. Upon graduation of the program you can obtain positions in lodging, service, food and beverage production, retailing, financial accounting and management.

International Tourism(Port Huron only): Developed specifically for the partnership with Lambton College and SC4 this degree is offered in Port Huron to build on the specialty course work from the Lambton and SC4 programs and rounds out your education with a strong core of business courses, plus four advanced business courses. Once you complete your degree, you will have combined your occupational specialty knowledge with your business knowledge and be ready to serve in management and administrative positions in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Maritime (Traverse City only): As a cadet at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City, you can earn a Business Administration degree with a concentration in Maritime Management. This program is designed to give you upon graduation of the Maritime Academy the preparation you need for management positions with shipping companies, shipyards, and ports or with non-maritime business. With both a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer's License and a strong academic preparation in business, you are uniquely qualified for a variety of maritime management opportunities.

Requirements

New Students: 2.5 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and two of the three criteria below: (1) English ACT score of 16 or higher, or SAT Writing score of 370 or higher; (2) Math ACT score of 19 or higher, or SAT Math score of 460 or higher; (3) Reading ACT score of 19 or higher, or SAT Reading score of 430 or higher.
Transfer Students: Combined college or university GPA of 2.35 (on a 4.0 scale) from all institutions attended. GPA is based on completion of 12 credit hours or more. Transfer equivalency for FSU ENGLISH 150 or placement during the first semester at FSU which would require an ACT English score of 16 or higher; Compass score 70 – 100. Transfer equivalency for FSU MATH 115 or placement during the first semester at FSU which would require an ACT Math score of 19 or higher; Compass Algebra score 46 - 74 and HS Algebra with 2.0.
Exceptions for New and Transfer Students: Applicants not meeting the above criteria but having a 2.35 High School GPA and at least a 16 ACT in Math or Reading (2.00 Overall GPA for Transfer Students) can be considered for conditional admission in a College of Business Pre-Program. Any mitigating circumstances will be considered on an individual basis by the College of Business Dean’s Office.
Pre-Program students must complete a minimum of 12 FSU credits (excluding developmental courses) with a 2.35 GPA; courses must include ENGL 150 and MATH 115 before being considered for admission into their program of choice. Students must meet admission criteria for their chosen degree program by the time they have earned 30 credits.

Funding

Ferris Statewide Endowed Scholarship: All students enrolled in an off-campus, site–based, undergraduate program for at least six credit hours are eligible to apply.

Ferris Statewide Freshman Achievement Scholarship: This scholarship will be automatically awarded to the first 25 students who meet the scholarship criteria.

Ferris Statewide Adult Learner Life Changing Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to the first 25 newly admitted students who meet the scholarship criteria and submit all application materials.

Ferris Statewide Transfer Achievement Scholarship: This scholarship will be automatically awarded to the first 75 students who meet the scholarship criteria.

The Roberta Teahen Scholarship: Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship must be admitted to and enrolled at a Ferris State University Statewide (off-campus) location for at least 5 credit hours.

Ferris/GRCC Assist Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled with both Ferris State University and Grand Rapids Community College.

Digital Animation and Game Design Student Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a Ferris student majoring in Digital Animation and Game Design, to be used exclusively for educational expenses.

Digital Media Software Engineering Student Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a Ferris student majoring in Digital Media Software Engineering, to to be used exclusively for educational expenses.

Grand Rapids Endowed Scholarship Student Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a Ferris student admitted to any Grand Rapids program, full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student, to be used exclusively for educational expenses.

Industrial Technology & Management Student Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a Ferris student majoring in Industrial Technology and Management, to be used exclusively for educational expenses.

Molecular Diagnostics Annual Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a Ferris student majoring in Molecular Diagnostics and attending classes at the Grand Rapids campus, to be used exclusively for educational expenses.

Alumni Board Scholarship: The College of Education and Human Services Alumni Board annually offers four scholarshipsfor which students apply. Members of the Alumni Board evaluate student applications on the basis of their academic records, leadership potential, service to Ferris State University, and written essays.

Millard J. and Ida Quinlan Scholarship: Mr. Millard Quinlan and his sister, Ida, were Michigan teachers for over thirty years. In recognition of their excellence in teaching, the Quinlan Scholarship funds up to 25% of tuition and other educational related expenses to academically successful students from Luce, Mackinaw, and Chippewa Counties.

Scott D. Whitener Memorial, Dean’s Excellence in Education Scholarship: Dr. Whitener, the former Dean of the College of Education, was known throughout Michigan for his commitment to students, innovation, and excellence. He was very active and engaged throughout his career to ensure that Ferris State University students succeed. This scholarship honors the late Dr. Whitener and supports students who demonstrate achievement and leadership.

The College of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP.) Next Accreditation Review is February 2018.

Ferris offers select programs in an online format so you can move ahead without moving all over town. We offer many certificates as well as bachelor degree-completion programs and master's degree programs.

In addition to our many programs which can be completed fully online, we also have some programs which have the added feature of some face to face instruction. Our Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration degree, Technical Education (Pro-Mo-Ted), and Master's degree in Business Administration all provide the opportunity to have the best of both worlds...a majority of the coursework online, blended with some face-to-face traditional classroom time, to give you an opportunity to meet others in your program and get to know your faculty instructors!
