Our MSc Business Psychology gives you a solid grounding in the business psychology science relevant to consulting and management. You develop psychological expertise and a skill set to tackle key growth areas from change management to supporting knowledge work and improving knowledge wellbeing.

You learn from expert practitioners and active applied researchers. You examine individual, group and organisational effectiveness by exploring issues such as selecting and assessing employees, and configuring work groups and teams.

Our programme also considers more cutting-edge topics, such as managing innovation and designing complex socio-technical systems. Students will benefit from an interactive learning experience. Our programme builds commercial awareness and professional skills through case studies, workshops and real-world projects.

You will conduct an applied research dissertation that will help you to put your research and consultancy skills into action – examining a research problem in depth and delivering valuable insight and advice to an organisation. You can work alongside psychologists and students from a range of backgrounds and cultures. The course emphasises skills development in research, problem solving and consultancy.

As a result, you will gain a broad understanding of contemporary organisations, putting you in a strong position for a career applying business psychology in the public or private sector, whether as a consulting business psychologist, skilled manager or human resource specialist.

During the programme there are also opportunities to complete Level A and B training in Psychometric testing – a valuable tool for selection and development. This Masters is available on a full-time or part-time basis – you can learn over two days a week for one year or one day a week for two years.

Careers

Business savvy, with a broad appreciation of the workings of contemporary organizations, our graduates will be strongly positioned for a career applying business psychology in the public or private sectors, equally adept as consulting business psychologists, skilled managers or human resource specialists.

Our MSc students have support from our Postgraduate Career Management Centre, a dedicated ‘Commercial and Professional Skills’ module and a practical, business focused dissertation to help you develop key skills. These include networking and negotiating, and will put you in you in touch with potential employers.

You may look to develop a career applying your specialist psychological expertise within management consultancy, working on practical problems across many organizations. Alternatively, your training would be valued within a company’s HR function, or you could use your newfound knowledge to improve your own effectiveness as a future manager.

A good first degree in a business or social science subject or overseas equivalent qualification (2.1 or above). Applicants who can demonstrate significant relevant business or psychology coverage as part of a degree in an alternative subject will be considered on a case by case basis.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated by your answers to the two questions below in your personal statement, and at the interview stage.Work experience (desirable but not essential).English Language RequirementsIf English is not your first language you need to attain one of the following:TOEFL iBT: At least 100 overall with a minimum of 23 in Listening, 23 in Reading, 25 in Speaking and 24 in Writing.IELTS test you need to achieve a score of 6.5 or more in each section and an overall score of 7. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
