Description

Environmental science is the study of the whole environment so involves both biological organisms and our physical environment, and the interactions between them.

Biology and geography are an important part of this degree, to help you to understand the processes within ecosystems and how we can manage our natural resources effectively.

You will study chemistry, physics and geology as applied to the study of the environment, and learn about the role of social and economic factors, ethics and public perception in environmental management.

You may also take an optional 70-hour work placement to gain practical experience in the environmental sector in the UK or abroad.

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

- A Levels

AAB-ABB preferably including two science subjects (one of which may include Geography). GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade C) required if not offered at a higher level.

- Scottish Qualifications

AAABB-AABBB including at least two sciences (which may include Geography). Mathematics required at grade 2 Standard Grade (or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted.

- International Baccalaureate

A minimum of 34-35 points with at least one science subject at Higher Level grade 5 or above. Mathematics or Mathematical Studies at Standard Level grade 4 or above if not offered at Higher Level.

- Irish Leaving Certificate

A1A1A1B1B-A1A1B1B1B at Higher Level, to include two science subjects (Geography or Mathematics included).

- Access Qualifications

At least 30 level 3 credits in a science subject and at least 30 level 3 credits at a minimum of Distinction and, in addition, at least 15 level 3 credits at a minimum of Merit.

- BTEC Level 5 HND

In a science-related subject to include at least 120 credits at Merit grade, including Physical or Biological Sciences at Merit grade and Mathematics at Pass grade.

- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma)

In a science-related subject at overall DDD-DDM, to include Physical or Biological Sciences and Mathematics units.

- Cambridge Pre-U

D3, D3, M2 - D3, M2, M2 in Principal Subjects preferably including two science subjects (which may include Geography). GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade C) required if not offered at a higher level.

- PARTNERS - A Levels

BBB preferably including two science subjects (one of which may be Geography). GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade C) required if not offered at a higher level.
