The master’s programme Industrial Engineering and Management aims to provide students, who have a solid base in engineering with the tools needed to integrate engineering, economy and mathematics. The programme prepares students for careers as managers or project leaders in the industry.

Building on the students’ engineering background, the programme provides knowledge in industrial management through a multi-disciplinary approach. It also increases their ability to adopt changes in the industrial environment in a responsible and efficient manner.

The first semester consists of mandatory courses in industrial project management, corporate organisation, programming, and production and quality management, placing the students’ engineering skills in the context of industrial management. The following semesters students can choose to specialise in fields such as innovation management, operation management, or quality management.

  • The operation management profile focuses on the skills needed to apply a holistic view of production and operations management issues, in both manufacturing and service industries. This profile is mathematically intensive and uses quantitative methods to describe problems, analyse operations issues, and provide solutions for industries facing a dynamic, changing environment.
  • The innovation management profile focuses on developing and commercialising innovative products and new solutions. Central topics are technology and project management, product development and entrepreneurship.
  • The quality management profile provides knowledge on creating and sustaining an effective organisation. Quality management is a set of concepts and practices characterised by core principles such as customer focus, process management, continuous improvement, everyone’s participation, fact-based decisions and committed leadership. One of the central questions is how an organisation can improve its processes to provide maximum benefits to customers through the best use of available resources
