The Department of Korean Studies at GSIS aims to equip international and domestic students with an enhanced understanding of Korea, including its contemporary social modernization, and economic development. GSIS offers both two-year Master’s degree and one-year diploma. Although all the courses in the program are taught in English, a high level of Korean language and reading courses are available in Korean for students who want to have intensive training in the Korean language. Current courses include: Modern History of Korea, Social Movement and Political Change, Social Problems in Korea, Korean Economy, Korean Cinema in the Global Context, and Dynamics of Korean Management.

Requirements

  • Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university, or being expected to hold prior to entering KUGSIS. 
  • Official Transcripts of all Colleges and Universities you listed on your online application
  • Two Letters of Recommendation from Professors familiar with your academic work, or from professional supervisors
  • TOEFL (iBT only) or IELTS score report
  • Application Fee (USD80 or KRW80,000) & the Receipt
