Effective management is central to business success. It proposes cohesion, teamwork, and a sense of direction. This programme is designed to provide an insight into the theories and practical skills needed for successful management and, through that, a successful business.

This MSc is particularly beneficial for those with non-business backgrounds. It can be as equally effective for those yet to begin their career as those looking to make significant progress in one already begun.

Blending classic management techniques with the very latest in management thinking, the MSc in Management encompasses international issues and diverse national business characteristics and settings.

What we offer

The programme is geared to providing an integrative understanding and a flexible approach to important management tasks. This will enable students to acquire expertise and skills related to their interests and their intended career path.

The aims and objectives of this MSc is to offer students:

  • an understanding of the nature and dynamics of an organisation;

  • knowledge about making business decisions in corporations to optimise profit;

  • awareness of the challenges that arise from business management such as designing tasks and motivating team members to perform.

A strong academic base, passionate faculty and international cohort will ensure a rewarding student experience in our city-centre campus. Students will have exposure to a range of guest speakers from businesses such as Lloyds TSB, Royal Bank of Scotland and Shell.

The MSc in Management runs for one calendar year, starting in mid-September. At the start of the programme out of the seven core courses you undertake six. Four or five can be taken in Semester 1 and one or two in Semester 2. These are the foundation upon which the whole MSc is built and ensures a common basis of knowledge across the different areas.

In Semester 2, you also begin to tailor your studies towards your career interests, through the selection of your two option courses.

Finally, your MSc dissertation brings all of the year's learning together in a piece of work unique to each student.
