The European Union in a Global Order programme provides students with a theoretical and empirical understanding of the EU's external relations.

The Master's programme deals with the idea of a double movement, with a dual focus: on the internal determination of the EU's external relations and actions (like the role of state and non-state actors in the development of a Common Foreign and Security Policy, the actual decision-making process, its instruments), and on the impact of global developments, challenges and threats on foreign policy-making at the European and Member State level. European Union in a Global Order is a theoretically and methodologically pluralist and interdisciplinary programme. Social, economic, political and cultural processes of change (at different levels of analysis) are seen as mutually constitutive. The programme's focus is on the EU's external / international / foreign relations rather than politics or economics.
