Political Science

The Department of Political Science offers graduate study leading to the degrees of the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is appropriate for those who wish to pursue careers as research scholars in institutions of higher education. The Master of Arts curriculum is appropriate as preparation for more advanced work in political science.

With a carefully controlled admissions policy and a faculty body of nearly 40, the Department affords the opportunity for close student-teacher interaction. Seminars are limited to 15 students and most have enrollments in the 5-10 student range. Students may also take Directed Readings courses that permit students to investigate specialized research topics on a one-to-one basis.
