Online induction sessions are held for those unable to attend the residential induction or for any student who would like more support during registration.

New for 2014 is a short online general introduction to public health and postgraduate level education, featuring short videos, quizzes and other material produced by some of the leaders in public health here at Manchester. This is a non-assessed unit, but one which all public health students must work through before their first assignment.

The programme has a dedicated team of eLearning technologists to help support you throughout your studies and resolve any issues you might have on a one-to-one basis.

If you elect to study for a specialist stream then you may have an additional one or two core units. Students on the Postgraduate Certificate programme can choose to study any four units available on the MPH programme.

After completing all of the taught units, students on the MPH degree will study for their dissertation. You will be able to choose from a range of different dissertation models designed to cater for different work situations and interests, students then submit their own proposal for review and discussion. When your proposal is approved you will be assigned a dissertation tutor.

A good way for you to start exploring your masters funding options is to ask staff in your subject area for advice on how previous international students have financed their studies.

You should also contact the ministry of education or education department along with the British Council office in your own country. The location of your nearest British Council office can be found on the British Council website.

Before you start your search for funding you should consider the following:

Funding opportunities are very competitive and are generally given to students that have achieved outstanding academic results and submitted high-quality applications.

The application process for funding opportunities can start very early in the admissions cycle, so you should start looking for funding opportunities 12 to 18 months before you intend studying.

If you need a visa to study in the UK you will need to prove to the immigration officer that you are able to meet both the tuition and living costs which may take the form of bank account information and/or a letter confirming sponsorship.

Our funding opportunities database contains details of the major international student award schemes offered by the British government and other organisations, as well as a number of awards offered by the University and its Faculties and Schools.
