Accreditation

Accreditation is extremely vital to a school because it assures the students that the school's curricula and student body performance either meet or exceed particular standards. Earning accreditation implies the institution has at least met the thorough requirements and teaches pertinent curricula based on verified data. It's also important to note that being regionally accredited is the most recognized type of accreditation in the United States.

Saint Louis University's accredited degree programs in St. Louis, Missouri are reviewed and evaluated by the Higher Learning Committee of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The HLC has been the continual accrediting body of Saint Louis University since 1916. Sharing a long history, part of the HLC's meticulous process to approve continued accreditation is that SLU must undergo and submit a comprehensive Self-Study every 10 years. SLU has been continuously accredited since 1916—most recently in 2012.

The HLC's rigorous assessment and accreditation review acts as a major benefactor to Saint Louis University's reputation and curricula as a whole because it requires SLU to undertake and address any necessary improvements needed in its professional commitment to a mission of providing exceptional education to its students.
