We support students in many ways, including advising and counseling services for school and life; diversity and inclusion services; social media sites; safety services; and emergency assistance.

Graduate courses carry numbers from 500 to 599 and 800 to 899. Advanced undergraduate courses numbered between 400 and 499 may be used to meet some graduate degree requirements when taken by graduate students. Courses below the 400 level may not. A graduate student may register for or audit these courses in order to make up deficiencies or to fill in gaps in previous education but not to meet requirements for an advanced degree.

Scores from the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) verbal and quantitative portions are required; scores from the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) are optional. All applicants who were psychology majors as undergraduates should provide scores from the advanced psychology (subject) GRE test. Applicants with superior undergraduate (particularly junior and senior years) or graduate grade-point averages will be considered for admission. Although a major in psychology is not required, applicants should have a broad undergraduate background that includes 12 credits in psychology. Undergraduate study in psychology should include a course in statistics and a psychological methodology course. Accreditation

Penn State is ranked at No. 46 for 2014 in the Center for World University Rankings, up from No. 50 in 2013. The list includes national and international schools. Criteria for the rankings are: quality of faculty, publications in top journals, highly influential research, citations, patents, academic training of students, and professional future of alumni.
