The MA in Film Broadcast and Production is an intensive and challenging course, which encourages students to develop and expand their own practice through the making of short films- drama, documentary or hybrid forms. Throughout the course students produce several short digital films- many of which have won film competitions and been screened at national and international film festivals.

What makes us special:

* Highly practical and hands on course learning through direct creative practice
* Close links with Film and TV industry professionals
* Opportunity for work placements, lively course culture of pop-up events, external screenings and live projects
* Fantastic location at the heart of the creative industries in central London

Career opportunities
Graduates typically gain employment in the creative industries such as film, broadcast, post-production and the games industry; as well as working as freelance media producers, artists or practice based scholars.

Others have progressed in their current jobs by securing promotions through their increased knowledge and experience. Many graduates have successfully set up their own production companies.

Course Structure
The course structure enables students to either specialise or combine areas of practice according to the students objectives, within a highly practical, dynamic and collaborative group environment. The course offers students a hands on, practice based approach to contemporary moving image production addressing creative, theoretical and commercial imperatives. The course encourages innovation and collaboration alongside an understanding of the realities of the creative industries. Ultimately, the course offers students the opportunity to pursue their personal development via practice and intellectual enquiry whilst being attuned to potential audiences, markets and employers. Students are encouraged to develop a showreel that targets a specified market for their work.

Facilities

The course is based in the School of Design at The Cass, a highly respected faculty of Art, Architecture and Design. Within the Faculty is Cassworks, a new resource centre for product development that contains advanced manufacturing technology. This includes: CAD studios running Rhino, Autocad, Studio Max, and advanced manufacturing such as rapid prototyping (SLS, 3D print), water-jet cutting, 5-axis CNC milling, laser cutting and 3D scanning. We also have a huge range of traditional equipment, some now quite rare. You will be given the opportunity to experiment and develop skills through technical inductions.

Successful applicants normally hold an Honours degree within design and have a relevant design portfolio. Those with relevant professional qualifications and/or extensive professional design experience will also be considered.
