This programme offers a wide choice of modules which cover the skills which modern construction professionals need in order to meet the challenges of the industry. It also provides recent graduates and experienced professionals with an outstanding opportunity to upgrade their skills in order to enhance their career opportunities. The programme allows students the scope to develop a bespoke skillset by their selection from the range of elective modules we provide. The MSc programme is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), allowing successful MSc graduates to progress directly to the assessment of professional competence. A semester system operates at GCU, each of which comprises fifteen weeks. During the semester, there are twelve teaching weeks and three weeks during which examinations are held. The taught modules cover the Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) stage of the degree. All modules are also delivered by means of web-based learning. This choice is open for experienced professionals, but recent graduates will receive guidance in the selection of appropriate modules. Students who successfully complete the PgD stage (comprising eight modules) have the opportunity to progress to the preparation of a dissertation for the award of MSc in Construction Management. Attendance can be full-time (1 year), part-time (2 years) or by distance learning (2-5 years).

Semester B: Electives: Construction Financial Management; Project Management; Construction Markets and Procurement; Strategic Management in Construction and Property; Managing the Construction Process; Project and Development Risk; Contract Administration Core module: Dissertation

The programme is designed to accept honours degree graduates, with a 2:2 and above, or equivalent in any discipline. However, it is highly recommended that applicants should have previous work experience in the construction or property industry. Candidates without formal degree level qualifications may be accepted on to the programme subject to relevant industry experience and discussions with the admissions tutor.English LanguageFor both Master's Degree and Postgraduate Diplomas, candidates whose normal medium of education and work has not been English, will normally be required to present evidence of competence in English as demonstrated by a pass at Academic IELTS level 6 (with no element less than 5.5) or TOEFL 550 (80 internet-based test). English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6 TOEFL paper-based test score : 550 TOEFL iBT® test: 80 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
