Graduates of the Master of Business Administration acquire advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled managerial work. The knowledge acquired from completion of this degree is both theoretical and applied in the business administration disciplines. They will have an understanding of recent developments in the disciplines of business administration and professional practice. In particular graduates will understand the relationship between theory and applied knowledge and the research from which it emerges.

Students have the option of choosing specialisations in fields such as Marketing, International Business, Financial Markets, Project Management, Reporting and Governance, Business Information Systems.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Graduates of the Master of Business Administration will have advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled managerial work. The knowledge acquired from completion of this degree is both theoretical and applied in the business administration disciplines. They will have an understanding of recent developments in the disciplines of business administration and professional practice. In particular graduates will understand the relationship between theory and applied knowledge and the research from which it emerges, including the principles and methods of research.
  2. Graduates will have, in respect of the inter-related disciplines of business administration:
    • cognitive skills to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and to reflect critically on theory and professional practice;
    • cognitive, technical and creative skills to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories and to apply established theories to different bodies of knowledge or practice;
    • cognitive, technical and creative skills to generate and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level;
    • communication and technical research skills to justify and interpret theoretical propositions, methodologies, conclusions and professional decisions to specialist and non-specialist audiences; and,
    • technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse and theorise about developments that contribute to professional practice.
  3. Furthermore, graduates of the Master of Business Administration will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills:
    • with creativity, initiative and a high level of personal autonomy and accountability to new situations in managerial practice; and,
    • for the purpose of planning and executing a substantial integrating capstone project, typically in the areas of of strategy or organizational leadership.

The Master of Business Administration requires completion of 96 units, which must consist of:

A Bachelor Degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%, and evidence of work, leadership or an international experience demonstrating maturity and independence

All applicants must meet the University's English Language Admission Requirements for Students

Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (1 semester) of credit.

Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (1 year) of credit.
