What is Environmental Resource Management?

Environmental Resource Management is a branch of Management which is dedicated to the supervision of various areas of the earth, such as oceans, lands, air. Environmental Managers work on preservation the Earth and earth resources in a dignified state for future generations of people The human impact on the ecological environment around it is massive, the task is to minimize the negative impact. Thus, the main task of experts in the field of environmental management is to preserve biodiversity, clean air and water, and temperature. Environmental Resource Management is an interdisciplinary area, which covers such sciences as geology, geography, biology, chemistry, sociology, psychology and physics. It works with the following aspects: atmosphere, oceans, freshwater,  land, forests, soil.

Structure of Environmental Resource Management study programs

Environmental Resource Management can be taught as Bachelor, Master, MBA or PhD degree. Master degrees in Environmental Resource Management are the most common. Master study programs can last from one to two years, it varies on the chosen university. They include courses in Environmental Law, Sustainable Building Design, Sustainable Water Resources Management, Geology for Earth Resources, Geographical Information Science - the particular curriculum depends on the chosen specialization. During all the education students work on their dissertation or final project.

The curricula consists of lectures, seminars, and practical lessons. Some study programs in Environmental Resource Management include various internships.

Entry requirements for Environmental Resource Management applicants

Those who wish to apply for an undergraduate study program in Environmental Resource Management in foreign university need to have excellent grades in Biology and Chemistry. Sometimes high scores in other sciences, such as Mathematics or Physics, are required too - it depends on the specialization of the chosen program and specific requirements of a chosen university. Many foreign universities ask Russian applicants to complete at least one year on relevant undergraduate education in Russian universities with a good GPA score.

Those applicants whose native language is other from English need to demonstrate language proficiency by providing the results of TOEFL, IELTS or other equivalent language certificate.
