How to apply to Australian universities

After you choose a course and a university you want to study at, it is necessary to start a process of application. It may slightly differ among universities, but general rules are the same for all the higher education institutions in Australia. There two major ways to apply. Firstly, prospective students can apply directly to the university (or to the other education provider). In order to that, they should visit provider's website and upload all required documents. Secondly, they could apply through one of the Australian education agents – these firms partner with various universities, help students to prepare the documents and send them to the universities. If your application is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer (both in paper and electronic format). You should accept or decline these offer which is usually possible to do online.

To apply for Bachelor programs, students typically have to provide your high-school diploma, and your GPA is the most important factor that have influence on your admission. Moreover, students who are not native English speakers, should provide an English language certificate (usually IELTS of TOEFL), which confirm their ability to study in English language.

Master programs require not only your university diploma, but also letters of recommendation (from your professors or supervisors at work), personal essays (or motivation letter) as well as some other documents, For example, in order to apply research-oriented Master programs, students have to provide their research proposal – they should describe a research project they want to work on. Professional programs sometimes require some work experience or at least relevant internships.

After receiving the letter of admission students should apply for a visa: in some cases this process may be quite time-consuming. In order to receive a visa, students should not only provide the letter of admission, but also demonstrate an evidence of funds to support your study (i.e. the tuition fees and cost of living).
