Career options for Pharmacy & Pharmacology Graduates

The most obvious career path for a Pharmacy graduate is a job in pharmacy store, and a lot of graduates choose this path. However, there are several less obvious career options for Pharmacy graduates.

Some graduates holding a degree in Pharmacy apply for a job in hospitals. Duties of a pharmacist in a hospital include communication with patients, dispensing medicaments to them, order and test all hospital medicines, suggesting the most effective course of medicaments while working with other healthcare specialists.

A lot of graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy decide to continue their education in the chosen area and compete Master’s and PhD degree in Pharmacy, which gives them an opportunity to start a research career in the Pharmacy area.  Pharmacy researchers are welcome to work in various private and government organizations, such as hospitals, research centers and universities.

Graduates can also start career in legal compliance area, if they wish to deal with licensing, marketing and legal compliance of medicaments. This job requires specific skills in legacy area.

Some institutions require at least a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from job applicants, but many vacancies are available for graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree. Usually study programs in Pharmacy include internships in pharmacy stores and hospitals, which can be count as work experience.

Graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy can also continue their education in other relevant area, for example, in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or Healthcare studies.
