The Clubhouse app is gaining popularity and more and more people are using Clubhouse to join voice chats (rooms) around the world, including to get feedback from kids who have already gone abroad to study. In this article, we've gathered the most popular frequently asked questions about Clubhouse!

How does Clubhouse work?

Clubhouse is a place for regular audio chats. When you open the app, you see "rooms" where people are talking - all of them are open, so you can go in and out, exploring different conversations. It's a place to meet friends and new people from all over the world - tell stories, ask questions, discuss, learn, and have impromptu conversations about thousands of different topics.

Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT there's a special room for new users "New User Orientations". Every week Paul, Rohan and Anu have a "Welcome to the Club" session! They used to be reserved for "newbies," but are now open to anyone who hasn't already done so. You can join at any time to learn the basics of the app. The Clubhouse staff will give you a tour of the Clubhouse, share some best practices and answer your questions.

Sundays at 9 a.m. PT are "Clubhouse Town Halls."

Another great room is "Ask someone!" where more experienced members answer any questions from newbies. It's a forum where everyone tries to help each other. Feel free to ask, the room is designed for that purpose!

How do I get an invite to Clabhouse?

Officially, the app authors automatically distribute invitations based on contributions to the community. So just keep having great conversations, join discussions and invite other members. Then Clubhouse invitations will automatically appear in your account, too! When you have more invitations, you will receive an in-app notification.

You should at least be in the contacts of someone who already uses Clubhouse to download the app. Try downloading the app yourself, you might already have an invite available. If you can't log in, find a friend you can ask to send you an invite by phone number. You will receive a message that says:

Hey Username - I have an invite to Clubhouse and want you to join. ? I added you using #your_phone_number~# so make sure to use that number when you register. Here is the link! https://join.club/app

I sent an invite, but user did not receive it. What should I do?

If you are unable to complete the invitation (invite), please pay attention to the peculiarities of the app. As soon as you click "invite" on the invite screen, the contact is immediately pre-approved and the invite is "spent". Even if you do not send an invite, the person whose number you have specified will be able to download the app and join.

Second, check if the phone number of the invitee is correct. Check with the person to see if the number is correct and also check your phonebook to make sure the number is saved correctly.

If both options didn't work, ask the invitee to do the following:

  1. Download the app via direct link or search your local Apple App store for "Clubhouse".

  2. After you download the app and enter your phone number (must be the same number as the invite), you must enter the verification code (OTP) sent to you via SMS.

If the above options did not help, contact Clubhouse support and provide the following details:

  1. invitee username (@handle)

  2. invitee's phone number.

  3. Shots of the received errors ?

Can I retract or redirect the invite once sent?

Unfortunately, we cannot retract, remove or redirect invitations once sent, so we ask that you check with invitees before sending, do they really want to join? Do they have an iOS device? And is the phone number you want to send the invite valid? Clubhouse also sends extra invitations automatically to reward members for their contributions to the community.

How can I create a club?

Clubs are still experimental, so it's not possible to create any number. Every new club has to be manually moderated and approved. Because of the high amount of requests we introduced a limit: one user can only create one club 

In view of the amount of requests, the Clubhouse administration is working on a new way to periodically create clubs in groups so you can approve multiple clubs at once. This means that if you submit a club request today, you may have to wait a little while before it is created.

Also in the near future we plan to build a self-service club feature into the app so you can set it up right away! In the meantime, we encourage you to check out existing clubs - you can find clubs in the events calendar, in the room corridor, or in people's profiles!

Can I change my username in Clubhouse?

The Clubhouse Administration receives many requests from people who want to change their username, so this functionality is now available in the Clubhouse app.

For this, simply go to your profile and tap on your existing username. Please note that you can only do this once, because we want people in Clubhouse to know who they are speaking with, so choose wisely.

Can I change my name?

Clubhouse is an app where people choose their real name. But sometimes people get their names wrong when they sign up. To correct the mistake or typo, you only have one shot at it - a one-time opportunity to correct it. We will still apply our policy on real names, but we understand that there may be errors, shortened names (Vlad instead of Vladislav, for example), and other edits that could be important to you!

If you are an artist who is publicly known by your creator name, you can now add your nickname to the app so people in rooms with you know what to call you.

To make a one-time correction to your full name (or if you are a public figure, a one-time correction to your nickname), simply click your name in your user profile and select the option ?!

Can I change my phone number in my account?

Unfortunately we do not currently have the option to change the phone number in your account. We are working to keep your account or migrate your account in future releases. Here is some additional information that will help right now:

  • If you are able to keep access to both phone numbers at the same time, we will hopefully be able to change it manually and have more information for you soon.

  • If you've already lost access to your old phone number, unfortunately we will not be able to transfer your old account to your new phone number.

  • The fastest way to ensure you still have access to Clubhouse if your phone number changes is to create a new account (it will be a clean sheet!). Remember that we have a "one person-one account" policy, so it's against our policy to have two accounts.
