German universities want to introduce tuition fees

Following Finland, Germany wants to introduce tuition fees for foreign students. This initiative was made by Theresia Bauer, Minister of Science and Arts of Baden-Württemberg.T heresia Bauer announced plans to charge € 1,500 per semester for international students attending universities in Baden-Württemberg. According to the minister, paid education for foreigners will help fill the hole in the budget.According to the reform plans, tuition fees may be introduced in the fall of 2017. This initiative will mainly affect foreign students from countries outside the EU. For EU citizens, education at universities in Baden-Württemberg will remain free.
