  1. https://www.coursera.org/ is a platform with courses from various universities, including Russian ones. Here you can study programming, graphic design, business analytics, world history, and much more. You can even earn a bachelor's or master's degree.

  2. https://openedu.ru/ - courses from leading Russian universities from Moscow State University to UrFU. From Arabic to bioinformatics. You can take the exam and get a certificate for almost any course, and then retake the subject at your university. So if you're not studying now, take note, there's a chance to get ahead of your classmates.

  3. https://online.spbu.ru/nashi-kursy/ - SPBSU online courses. There are the same courses as on the platform “Open Education” but there are some great ones, such as English for Lawyers.

  4. https://arzamas.academy/courses - small courses for creative people, and there are also podcasts on different topics.

Online Cinemas

We hope the quarantine is over soon, but if you get tired of trying to improve yourself, here's a list of online movie theaters you can use to enjoy a good movie.

  1. Nonfiction.film — the Documentary Film Center's online movie theater. While the CDC is closed for quarantine, at Nonfiction.film you can watch iconic documentaries, as well as films from the «Oscar» list of winners of Cannes, Berlin, Venice and other international festivals. For example, the platform offers «Varda through the eyes of Agnes; «Why are we creative? » «Mercury Chronicles; «Sorokin Trip; «How Vityka garlic took Lech Stir to the nursing home; «David Lynch: Life in Art; and other films. Classic Music and Opera

If you prefer classical music and opera to movies and shows, we've got something for that too

  1. The Vienna State Opera will start streaming its productions online on March 15. An up-to-date schedule is available here.

  2. Metropolitan Opera launches online broadcasts of Nightly Met Opera Streams with operas from the archives. The broadcasts begin at 7:30 p.m. New York time, but will be available for another 20 hours. Tomorrow, March 16, is Carmen with Elina Garancia; Tuesday, March 17, is Boheme with Angela Georgiou. March 18 Troubadour recording of 2015 with Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Full schedule here.

  3. Recording on the Berlin Philharmonic's website: the Philharmonic is closed, so we're coming to you. Through March 31, a promo code provides free access to all archival concerts.

  4. The Bavarian Opera is also giving free access to its performances. For example, you can already listen to and watch The Troubadour with the terrific tenor Jonas Kaufmann.

  5. If you love classical music, opera, and don't already have a subscription to medici.tv, that's a huge omission. Stunning archival recordings, long-gone voices and broadcasts of terrific contemporary concerts. Subscription costs 299 rubles per month or 1,943 rubles per year (through March 31).

Theatre

  1. There are a lot of old Soviet productions on the culture.ru site. For example, Yunona and Avos. Put your grandparents in their grandparents to watch the plays of their youth, instead of walking around town.

  2. Onlineteatr.ru you can watch live broadcasts from some of Moscow's theaters. For example, on March 17 and 31 from Vakhtangov will be broadcastthe stunning play Eugene Onegin. However, the screening costs 400 rubles.

  3. The performances of Shakespeare «Globe», Royal Court, The Old Vic theaters in English, can be seen at Digital Theatre. There's both a subscription option, about £10 a month, and the option to rent a single play for 48 hours.

  4. Stages on Yandex. There aren't many live shows, but the selection is excellent. For example, last year you could see live broadcasts from the Diana Vishneva Context Festival. You can subscribe to their mailing list to make sure you don't miss a thing here.
