Short-term Scholarships for PhD and postdoctoral researches (University of Fribourg)

The University of Fribourg in Switzerland provides short-term scholarships for international students wishing to do their PhD or post-PhD researches in Switzerland. The University offers researches in following areas: Economics, Social Sciences; Media and Communications; Languages and Literatures; History, Philosophy and Philology; Special Education, Special Pedagogics, Psychology; Sociology, Social Work, Social Politics; Law; Sciences; Theology. This is a short-term scholarship – doctoral students are allowed to stay no longer than six months, postdoctoral researchers – no longer than five months. The amount of scholarship is CHF 1,700 monthly for doctoral students and CHF 1,900 monthly for postdoctoral researchers.

Requirements for PhD applicants

1. At least two semesters spent in a foreign university;

2. Not a Switzerland citizen;

3. 35 years old max.

How to apply for the PhD program

The applications are submitted via email (international-incoming@unifr.ch), but the original application files should be send via regular mail to: University of Fribourg, International Relations Office, Avenue de l’Europe 20, 1700 Fribourg, Switzerland. Deadline – February 28, 2017.

The application should include:

1.Complete application-form with digital ID picture

2. Resume (CV)

3. Description of the research project

4. Confirmation letter by the professor of the University of Fribourg that accepts to accompany the scholar during the stay

5. Confirmation letter by the professor that accompanied the doctorate from the foreign University

6. Description of the necessity of a scholarship for the implementation of the research-project

7. Confirmation of the university that the scholar has been inscribed for a doctorate for at least two semesters

8. Bachelor’s Diploma

9. Master’s Diploma

10.Transcripts of the Bachelor and Master diplomas;

11.Confirmation of residence;

12.Copy of passport.

Requirements for postdoctoral applicants

1. A PhD degree, which was completed in last 3 years;

2. Not a Switzerland citizen

How to apply for the postdoctoral program

The application should include:

1. Complete application-form with digital ID picture;

2. Resume (CV);

3. Description of your research project at the University of Fribourg;

4. Confirmation letter by the professor of the University of Fribourg that accepts the scholar in his/her research group;

5. Copies of all publications or results of previous research projects on a university level;

6. Description of the necessity of a scholarship for the implementation of the research project;               

7. Doctor title which has been obtained in the last three years;

8. Confirmation of residence;

9. Copy of passport.

The procedure of applying for postdoctoral program is similar to the procedure of applying for PhD program.
