What is Business Engineering?
Business Engineering is a field of study which is dedicated to the application of business skills and knowledge to the engineering area. It deals with the development of business solutions with a sociotechnical systems approach, which means that enterprises (whether it is aerospace engineering enterprise, IT corporation, food engineering or whatsoever) as a total but complex system.
Engineering & Business can be taught in higher institutions as an academic discipline. These study programs are common not only in technical institutions or business schools, they can be found in ordinary universities.
Entry requirements for Engineering & Business applicants
Applicants for Bachelor degree in Engineering & Business need to have good scores in mathematics and physics. Interest in business and management, expressed in a motivation letter, will be an advantage. English proficiency is a mandatory requirement for all applicants. since all study programs in Engineering & Business which can be found on our website are taught in English. Those applicants whose native language is other from English need to pass a language test - IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent - and submit its results with the application form.
Applicants for Master degree in Engineering & Business need to complete an undergraduate degree in this or related area - for example, engineering, computer science, mathematics, science or business. High GPA scores are mandatory for applicants, but minimum scores vary from university to university. Those foreign applicants who have already completed a degree in English usually do not have to pass language certifications again.
Study program structure
Engineering and Business as an academic discipline is usually taught as an interdisciplinary degree, uniting, accordingly, courses and subjects from business study program and engineering study program. Education in this area can be started from an undergraduate level. Bachelor study programs in Engineering & Business usually last from three to four years. The first years of education are basic and introductory, they include courses in such disciplines as mathematics, physics, technical mechanics, information technology for engineers, economics. After one or two years of education students are supposed to choose their specialization and/or academic, career and research interests. Further curriculum will depend on their choice. Usually the choice is between more commercial or more engineering specialization. Students with engineering specialization make emphasis on such courses as machinery engineering, and students with business specialization focus on such courses as Production, Logistics or Purchasing. Of course, many courses stay mandatory for all students, as well as practice in industry.
When you choose between study programs related to engineering, it would be better to choose an accredited one, as they are on higher demand amongst employers.
