The School of Social Work

The School of Social Work has a distinguished record of instruction, research, and public service. Established in 1954, the school offers undergraduate and graduate-professional degree programs, holds classes on Rutgers' three regional campuses, and is affiliated with more than 800 social service agencies throughout the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area.

The School of Social Work is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. It is within easy commuting distance of New York City and Philadelphia, and offers access to an array of cultural and recreational opportunities.

* Applicants should hold an MSW or closely related master's degree.
* Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
* Undergraduate and graduate transcripts
* 3 letters of recommendation
* Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for international students
* Completed admission application including personal statement, and application fee

Funding

All first year PhD students are supported by departmental or university fellowships or graduate assistantships, which provide stipend, tuition remission, and sometimes student fees for the first year.After the first year, students will be supported by their advisors through fellowships and graduate assistantships.

There are also a number of multi-year fellowships available for advanced students through NSF and NIH training programs. BME also has a limited number of teaching assistantships for graduate students who demonstrate outstanding teaching skills.
