Description

WSU’s online management information systems program provides high-level IT skills, and teaches you how to apply them in a business environment.

The curriculum focuses on technical, business and managerial knowledge. You will learn to collaborate with non-technical business people, assess organizational needs, and design information systems to meet those needs. Courses include extensive hands-on experience in building software applications.

The MIS program at WSU is recognized as the largest and most comprehensive MIS program in the Pacific Northwest.

WSU’s College of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accrediting agency for degree programs in business administration.

Course Content

Certification Requirements:

To be eligible to certify as a business major, students must meet the minimum requirements as indicated below.
Complete the following certification courses with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher:

  • Acct 230 - Introduction to Financial Accounting
  • Acct 231 - Introduction to Managerial Accounting
  • B Law 210 - Law and the Legal Environment of Business
  • EconS 101 – Fundamentals of Microeconomics
  • EconS 102 – Fundamentals of Macroeconomics
  • Engl 101 [W] - Introductory Writing
  • MgtOp 215 - Statistics
  • MIS 250 - Managing Information Technology
  • Math 201 - Introduction to Finite Mathematics for Business and Economics
  • Math 202 - Calculus for Business and Economics
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
  • Have earned at least 60 semester credit hours

Business Core Requirements:

  • Fin 325 - Introduction to Financial Management
  • Mgmt 301 - Principles of Management and Organization (was MgtOp 301)

  • Any 300/400 level MIS course

Business Electives:

Requirements

  • To be eligible for admission to Washington State University, an applicant must be a high school graduate or its equivalent, or have completed a more advanced transferable credential from a regionally accredited college or university (e.g., a transferable Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree).
  • The total number of new students admitted for any one semester will be based on the number of students for whom facilities can be made available.
  • Appeal of admission decisions may be made only to the Admissions Subcommittee of the Academic Affairs Committee or its designee.
