Course Content

This course will teach you to program and develop the latest games and interactive applications, understand games hardware and programming techniques, as well as developing entertaining games content.

Your first year lays the foundation for the study of computer science, which is essential to computer games and interactive media programming. This will allow you to apply for the widest range of jobs once you leave.

The course covers the essentials of games technology, such as state-of-the-art techniques in computer graphics for real-time rendering of game environments, physics programming for realistic game interaction, artificial intelligence for creating compelling game opponents, and networking essentials for game operability, user-centred design techniques, playability and games concept development as well as the latest developments in the games and creative industries.

Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars, workshops and practical classes. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

You will work with staff on real-world problems from industry, commerce and research groups, as you would in professional practice; this means that you develop all of the professional skills at the same time as you learn the technical content of your degree.
