Description

Core subjects deal with the fundamental engineering principles, such as structural engineering, geotechnics, construction management and materials. These are supported by a broad educational base that includes a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of mathematics, physics, health and safety, computer graphics, computer aided design and other complementary topics. This approach is further strengthened by an introduction to the use of industry-standard software. To provide the latest specialist knowledge and technical competence, all design-related modules are taught in accordance with the new structural Eurocodes.

A 26-week work experience (practical training) period in industry companies is an integral part of the course, which will enable students to gain a wealth of valuable experience. There are also modules that include integrative design approaches to engineering problems (study projects), enabling students to combine various skills into a single solution and develop engineering analysis and management skills to the level required.

Subjects of Civil engineering are taught by academic staff of high qualification –professors, associated professors, docents and lecturers.All teaching is involved in research work, such as the realization of State research program; industry ordered scientific research works and many international projects.

In order to improve academic success of enrolled professional bachelor students, the attendance of all lectures are compulsory during first study year. Practical training, seminars, laboratory works envisage direct contact of learners and teachers. Besides official lecture and laboratory hours, students can meet teachers during consultations, as all teachers provide scheduled consultations. In order to fasten adaptation of freshmen, student organizations organize special seminars, meetings, camps, events.

All students are welcome to participate in research projects and part-time work in specialty, this develops problem-solving skills, ability to work in the group.

A civil engineering degree provides very good employment opportunities for graduates, we have close links with all sectors of industry and our students have enjoyed paid employment soon after they graduate.
