Course Content

This HND Mechanical Engineering is concerned with design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of just about anything that has moveable parts. Mechanical Engineers apply their creative imaginations and professional skills to combine both theory and practice in a variety of situations. For this, you will need an in-depth understanding of scientific principles and engineering processes. Youll also need to be able to develop solutions to real-life problems in the face of conflicting requirements. Throughout the courses youll study specialist Mechanical Engineering topics including Energy Management and a module in which youll look at the materials and processes that Engineers use every day in their professions.

The course also includes Business Management for Engineers and a module on Managing People in Engineering which will introduce you to industrial and commercial practice, as well as encourage you to develop your Business and Management skills alongside your Engineering knowledge.

On completion of this course you will be well equipped with a good knowledge of electronics systems design techniques and their applications in areas such as control, telecommunications and consumer products.

This well-established national qualification is at an intermediate level and places academic theory and learning within a practical vocational context. You will be encouraged to broaden your personal understanding of Mechanical Engineering and develop valuable transferable skills to really enhance your employment prospects.

You will study for approximately 20 hours per week and will receive three hours of English support as well as optional academic support sessions during your studies.

The qualification is recognised by the Engineering Council.

Requirements

Youll need to demonstrate your ability to study at an intermediate undergraduate level. You might have the international equivalent of a BTEC National Diploma or A Levels, as well as international equivalents of GCSEs. You will need to have an IELTs score of 5.5 in order to join the programme. We may consider your application should you have an IELTs score of 5.
