Description

Professional accountants don’t just prepare financial statements and record business transactions – they also take part in mergers and acquisitions, quality management and use information systems to track financial performance.

Our vocationally relevant programme will encourage you to develop a broad and comparative understanding of the practices of accounting, and to develop an ability to evaluate critical theories and empirical evidence concerning the effects of accounting on organisations and on society.

The BA (Hons) Accountancy – taught within the Department of Law, Economics, Accountancy and Risk – uses practical accounting packages and has a series of guest speakers.

Brighter futures

Graduates secure training contracts to undertake the professional examinations of the ACC, CIMA and ICAS, as well as the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Graduates are exempt from a number of professional examinations.

Many of our graduates have gone on to work for companies such as BDO Stoy Hayward, KPMG, Baker Tilly, Ernest & Young, with some based overseas.
