The International M.A. Program in Ancient Israel Studies: Archaeology and History of the Land of the Bible is a unique program, offering students from across the globe a unique window into the country’s perplexing and complex past via theoretical classes, field work experience, and guided tours to some of the most exciting excavation sites in Israel (such as Jerusalem, Ramat Rachael, Megiddo, Hazor, Dan, Beit Shemesh, Azekah, Beer-Sheba, Qumran, Masada, and Caesarea).

Join other international students and enjoy being taught by world-renowned scholars with expertise in archaeological fieldwork and research, in one of the following tracks:

  • A one year MA program (without thesis)
  • A two year MA program (with thesis)
  • Or a one year credited course program for PhD students
  • The Archaeology and History of the Land of Israel During the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age I
  • The Archaeology and History of the Land of Israel During the late Iron Age I and Iron Age II
  • The Archaeology and History of the Land of Israel During the Late Iron Age II and the Early Persian Period

  • Megiddo in the Bronze and Iron Ages: Archaeology and Historical Reconstruction
  • Judah in the Biblical Period: Economy, Governance, and Administration
  • Daily Life in the Holy Land during the Classical Era

Requirements

  • Students must have a GPA above 3 or 80%.
  • Students who are not native English speakers and who have not completed their undergraduate studies in English at an English speaking country will be required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Minimal IELTS requirements: Overall band score of 7.0. Minimal TOEFL requirements: Paper based test – 573, computer based test – 230, internet based test – 89.
  • Previous academic records (original BA transcript is mandatory + original transcripts for transferred credits (if relevant), additional diplomas and transcripts are optional)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A Health Declaration form (after acceptance, students are required to fill out a medical form by their physician) 
  • A personal statement which includes the reasons you have applied to the program, your archaeological background (if applicable), main archaeological topics of interest, etc.
