This programme trains you to design, control and optimize processes in complex organizations and businesses in a global context, using mathematical modelling, computer simulations and advanced ICT.

Industrial Engineering and Management educates you to become an expert in an operational management specialization while teaching you to apply your cutting-edge expertise in all sectors. Today’s companies feel the need to be socially responsible while focusing on economics. People, planet and profit are the key words in business development and decision-making. Green logistics, safety, improving labour conditions and cradle-to-cradle are key issues for engineering process managers. This two-year, internationally oriented Master’s programme is taught entirely in English. It teaches you to develop, analyse and optimize processes and management in organizations with a view to improving productivity, raising product and labour quality, and quantifying risks from a technological perspective. There are three fascinating specializations available; read about them on the site. The programme’s research staff have excellent contacts with the business community, so you will have plenty of real-world opportunities to pursue your graduation project. This results in outstanding career prospects, with many of our students finding a job even before graduation.

Programme internationalization:

  • Studying abroad is optional.

This programme has a workload of 120 ECTS.

Specialities:

Financial Engineering and Management:

Over the past decade, expanding markets and the increasing complexity and variety of financial products have generated a growing demand for skilled professionals to create, price and hedge complex derivatives and, more generally, to manage risk. To acquire these much needed skills, you need a thorough command of both mathematical and managerial knowledge. Our Master's specialization in financial engineering and risk management can teach you everything you need to fulfil your ambitions in this fascinating field. You will be trained to identify and quantify risk. This means you will develop the ability to determine the extent to which risk should be dealt with using financial engineering instruments or other types of solutions, such as reengineering business processes, adapting the firm's strategy, switching customers/suppliers or taking alternative investment decisions. You will also benefit from comprehensive management training and learn to apply strategic skills to manage the firm's innovation and technology.

Health Care Technology and Management:

The Health Care Technology and Management specialization highlights the role of management in healthcare. It centres on two main themes: entrepreneurship in technological innovation and healthcare logistics. In entrepreneurship, you will focus on the effective development and implementation of healthcare technology by the biomedical industry. In healthcare logistics, you will examine the efficient and effective application of these technologies in healthcare organizations, with a particular focus on hospitals. You will also explore the organizational aspects of hospitals from an Industrial Engineering and Management perspective, with some courses being taught in collaboration with the Master’s programme in Biomedical Engineering.

Production and Logistic Management:

Production and logistics gets right to the heart of the supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products to customers. Modern production and logistics methods are growing ever more complex. Product lifetime is on the decrease, suppliers and buyers are spreading across the planet and more activities are being outsourced. You will learn to meet these challenges by getting to grips with key issues in supply chain design. This involves pinpointing the best location for production facilities and distribution centres, and identifying the resources they need. You will learn how to structure operations management in production, warehousing, transport and distribution, and purchasing. The key is to give customers the standard of service they want and to ensure process reliability. Production and Logistic Management is about understanding the impact of customized logistical designs on overall performance. In our Business Process Laboratory, you will apply advanced software tools for enterprise resource planning and integer linear programming problems, capacity analysis of production systems, distribution planning and vehicle routing.
