The BSc program in Mathematics and Economics is a joint degree program between the School of Science and the Business School that provides students with solid training in fundamental theories in both mathematics and economics (minimum eight courses in mathematics and eight courses in economics). The curriculum equips students with quantitative reasoning skills, conceptual understanding and the ability to effectively communicate in mathematics and in the language of economics and the social sciences. Students who graduate from this program will be provided with the necessary background for entry, without remedial coursework, into postgraduate programs in economics. With carefully planned mathematics electives, it also provides adequate preparation for postgraduate work in mathematics. Our Mathematics and Economics Departments have strong reputation in the areas of applied mathematics and quantitative economics. The combination of the faculty expertise of the two departments should make this program attractive to talented students.
