Recently having celebrated its 150 anniversary, the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Law is a top Romanian law academic institution. University of Bucharest, Faculty of Law is highly active in the Romanian educational sector, being part of the prestigious network Hexagon, comprising the six most prestigious (state) law faculties.

Also, our Faculty has developed numerous international cooperation relations with Law Schools in Europe, the results including the College Juridique Franco-Roumain d'etudes europeenes, a double degree grad program of three years and a two year master program, organized in cooperation with a consortium of prominent law faculties in France, this institution being active for almost two decades.

Our academic staff is highly profiled, remarkable legal scholars, many of them also acting as practitioners in various legal professions, including a judge with the European Court of Justice and a judge with the European Court of Human Rights, and also professors that hold or had previously held high ranked positions in Romania (presidents of the Constitutional Court, Ombudsman, State cabinet members and deputies and so forth).

Consequently, the students of the Law School are deemed to the best in Romania, the confirmation of their astute and efficient preparation being the outstanding results achieved by the teams of students participating to the national and international students' competitions, including the“Hexagon” Competition, “Rene Cassin” Human Rights Moot Court, “Telders” International Law Moot Court, “Phillip C. Jessup” International LawMoot Court, “Willem Vis” International Arbitration Law Moot Court.The graduates of our Faculty of Law practice a wide range of legal professions.

According to the recent statistics, we have the most candidates admitted at the National Institute for Magistrates (preparing judges and prosecutors), and the National Institute for Preparation and Excellence of Attorneys. Moreover, the most prestigious Romanian law firms recruit the members of their staff from the alumni of our Faculty of Law

Presentation of the LLM Program on International Arbitration

International arbitration provides a very important tool for the resolution of the disputes arising out of international commercial or international investment relationships, being an efficient, flexible and modern alternative to the jurisdiction of the national courts of law.

The LLM Program in International Arbitration is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice of the international commercial arbitration, as well as of specialised arbitration areas, such as investment, construction, intellectual property and sports.

The LLM Program is primarily addressed to practitioners seeking a specialization, to attorneys at law and in-house counsels, nevertheless being ofinterest to all practitioners in international relation.

The language of the LLM Program is English, hence providing the opportunity for the interaction between students with different cultural backgrounds and origin.The library of the Law School comprises a wide range of specialized publications, as mentioned in the bibliographical references for the LLMProgram

The LLM Program offers courses focusing International Arbitration. The academic staff included distinguished professors and practitioners:

Also, prestigious visiting professors from United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy will give lectures during the LLM Program, on specific topics –Julian Lew, Ph.D., Q.C, (Professor at Queen Mary University, London), Veijo Heiskanen, Ph.D. (Adjunct Professor at University of Lausanne andUniversity of Helsinki), Luigi Fumagalli, Ph.D. (Professor at University of Milan) Erik Wilbers, (Director WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre,Geneva), Matthias Scherer, LLM (editor of the Swiss Arbitration Association Bulletin, Geneva).Moreover, both the Romanian and the visiting professors are practitioners in the field of arbitration as either arbitrators and counsels or directors of arbitral institutions, thus enhancing the quality of the courses being practical

The Program is primarily addressed to practitioners,and therefore the courses and seminars shall be heldin the late afternoons and evenings,allowing students to pursue their professional activitiesduring the Program
