The MSc in Engineering – Operations and Supply Chain Management is about production and quality management, Supply Chain Management and information technology. In the following we provide you with an overview of the academic focus on each semester:

1st semester

The project of the 1st semester is about improvement of the company’s production, logistics and business systems. It is based on an analysis of process and use of resources in the company’s business and manufacturing processes. The project work must include testing of different ideas for improvement, which could be in form of for instance simulation models. The tested processes are then to be evaluated with regard to organisation and management so they can be part of a development and implementation strategy for the company. The courses in this semester cover areas such as operational management, development of operational systems, and development of quality and project management.

2nd semester

The project, which you will carry out on this semester, is about improvement of the company’s competitiveness through improved cooperation with clients and suppliers in the supply chain. The improvements can among other things consist of shorter time of delivery or a higher degree of customization. The solutions can for instance be achieved through improved control in the supply chain or through adjustment of product and production structure. The courses on this semester cover production and logistic systems, Business Intelligence and also development of advanced quality and project management systems.

3rd semester

On this semester, you have the opportunity to define your own semester. You may acquire industrial experience by undertaking an internship, study a semester at a foreign university or specialise in a specific subject area through project work.

4th semester

During the 4th semester, the Master’s Thesis is carried out. The task is to solve an industrial problem through independent work. You can work with any industrial project within the area of production. The groups are small (1-3 persons) and the situation resembles the working environment you will find in the industry. The Master’s Thesis can be in nature of industrial development work, further development or actual research. The final thesis can comprise completely new subjects or an extension of the project carried out on the 9th semester.
