International Business – Central European Business Realities is a two-year (four semesters) full-time Master’s Program taught in English.

The program was established to address the specificities and characteristics of the Central European business environment within the framework of the increasing trends of globalization. It provides students with a comprehensive business education in the main fields of economics, management, finance, marketing and negotiations. Students are offered the possibility to fulfill part of their study obligations at the University of Lyon Business & Management School (France), the University of Applied Science in Mainz (Germany), Management Center Innsbruck (Austria), the International University Geneva (Switzerland) or at Linnaeus University in Sweden, and to obtain graduate degrees (a double degree) from both the Czech and partner university.

One of the IB Program’s strengths is the high level of international diversity within its student body. In the 2014/15 academic year, the program welcomed students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Ukraine, USA and Vietnam. In the 2013/2014 academic year, the program welcomed students from Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.

Double degree

The International Business Master’s degree is a national degree awarded by the University of Economics, Prague. The graduates are entitled to use the title Ing. per Czech legislation.
Students have also an option to accomplish their second academic year at one of our double degree partner universities. The partner programs include: European Business Realities in Lyon, France, International Business M.A.in Mainz, Germany, International Health Care Management in Austria, International Business in Switzerland and also Linnaeus University; they are fully compatible with the Czech International Business – Central European Business Realities program. Students that have chosen this option graduate with degrees (double degree) from the Czech and partner universities.

Students wishing to study the Double Degree program have the possibility to obtain some financial support. This offer is valid even for non-EU citizens.

The International Business – Central European Business Realities program (further referred to as the International Business or IB program) is aimed at preparing students for their management tasks and leadership roles in a multicultural entrepreneurial environment, in either national or multinational companies. It provides students with the in-depth knowledge and skills reflecting both global and specific Central European economic and business trends.

After successful completion of the program, student’s management abilities will include an interdisciplinary approach to the management of complex processes in the European and namely the Central European markets. The graduates will be able to bridge theoretical prerequisites and practical applications, to analyze regional European markets in connection with its national and historical interferences, to develop business strategies tailored to European realities, to consider the financial aspects of their decisions and to successfully apply intercultural differences in various negotiations.

Achievement of the program goal is guaranteed by professors at the University of Economics, Prague and by Academic Worldwide Capacities (visiting professors).

The program consists of major subjects (see courses) and a minor specialization that provides students some flexibility according to their specific study interests and preferences. Complementary to the program objectives, several courses with economic issues related to Central Europe or to cultural areas of the global economy, are offered; they are available starting from the third semester.

Students study in small groups. In the framework of the program, they have access to the whole University´s offer of intensive business courses and to all exceptional lectures given by professionals, politicians and professors from all over the world.

The program finishes with a Master Thesis and two state exams (major subjects and minor specialization).

Bachelor’s degreeThe International Business Program is designed for students from all over the world who have completed their bachelor’s study or who are going to finish it by the end of August. Previous economic and/or business education is an advantage.How to prove the bachelor’s degree:Graduates of Czech and Slovak universities provide a legalized (notarized) copy of their university diploma,Graduate of Slovenian, Polish and Hungarian universities provide a legalized (notarized) copy of their university diplomaGraduates of German universities apply for a recognition/nostrification of the university degree at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic – detailed information of the application procedure can be given by the IB program administrator.Graduates of other universities provide a legalized (notarized) copy of their university diploma and an academic transcript and apply for the recognition of their previous university degree (for details, please see part Recognition/nostrification of the previous University degree).The resolution of the recognition procedure should be a part of the documents attached to the application to the IB program.In case a bachelor´s degree will be achieved in the academic year 2014/2015 an applicant is requested to attach to the application documents a confirmation of study and a temporary transcript of records. Study grants

Other student grants are not provided by the university. Students could apply for other grants, e.g. at the Visegrad Fund

Students having applied for the governmental grant at the Czech Ministry of Education could not use this grant for studying any study program with tuition fee within in the Czech Republic.

Students who take part at the double degree program at one of the partner universities (in Lyon, Mainz, Innsbruck or Geneva) will receive a financial support for one semester according to the valid rules of the University of Economics, Prague.
