The Computer Science Master Programme offers a unique choice of courses that cover all aspects of the discipline, ranging from advanced digital technologies to distributed information systems and security, including emerging disciplines such as biocomputing and service science.
Our programme offers specializations in the following technical disciplines: Biocomputing, Computer Engineering, Foundations of Software, Signals and Images, Industrial Informatics, Internet Computing, Service science, as well as an option for a minor in the management of technology.
Our school of computer science has recently strengthened its faculty by recruiting several world-class professors. Our aim is to offer students the best computer science curriculum in Europe.
During their studies, our students have the option to undertake an internship, in Switzerland or abroad, in some of the most famous companies. The Master curriculum ends with a thesis that can be done at the EPFL, at a partner university (including some of the best universities in the US) or in one of the companies participating in the internship programme.

Students can choose either the fast track programme (90 ECTS) or the comprehensive programme (120 ECTS).

Typical curriculum:
- 2 semesters of courses and laboratory work (60 ECTS),
- 1 semester Master's thesis (30 ECTS) in research laboratories (EPFL or partner universities) or in a company (in Switzerland or abroad).

Students can add 30 ECTS by choosing a specialization in the following fields:
- Foundations of Software
- Signals, Images and Interfaces
- Industrial Informatics
- Internet Computing
- Computer Engineering
- Service Science
- Software Systems

or by taking an additional minor, which allows them to combine studies in computer science with a subject in some other field (Management of Technology & Entrepreneurship, Contemporary Asian Studies, Biocomputing, Biomedical Technologies).

In addition, students have the opportunity to spend a 6-month internship in industry or an internationational research lab to get a taste of "the real world" and gain valuable experience.

Anyone holding a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university can apply to the EPFL Masters Programmes. However, please be aware that admission is competitive. Only candidates with excellent academic records and references have good chances to be accepted. This Masters programme is taught in English.
