The MSc is aimed at the graduate students wishing to pursue research in the field of mindfulness. The programme will also be of interest to those wishing to pursue clinical training or mindfulness teacher-training by providing strong foundations in the neural and psychological mechanisms of mindfulness.

The purpose of the MSc Mindfulness: Neuroscience and Clinical Applications is to meet the growing demand for a graduate programme providing the platform for training in mindfulness research. It aims to forge the new generation of the neuroscientists and clinical researchers to further our understanding of the efficacy and mechanisms of mindfulness-based interventions. The main aspects of the programme will be:

* the concept of mindfulness, its historic roots in the Buddhist contemplative traditions as well as its adaptation in scientific, clinical, and secular settings;
* the neural, cognitive, and emotion regulation mechanisms of mindfulness;
* recent developments in mindfulness-based interventions and applications in clinical populations;
* the mechanisms of its clinical and trans-diagnostic efficacy;
* rigorous research skill training.

An integral part of the programme will be experiential 8-week mindfulness training with further provisions to support students in establishing their mindfulness practice for their personal benefit and well-being, as well as for the purpose of guiding their research endeavours in the science of mindfulness. The combination of experiential understanding of mindfulness with the science behind its efficacy, as well as rigorous research skills training will ensure that the programme contributes to the expansion and furthering of this growing field of neuroscience and clinical research.
