Educational organisation

During the first, second and third semesters, students take six courses representing 30 ECTS credits per semester. Courses are usually given as lectures, and a schedule is fixed by the university. Team work and individual study also apply, especially in the third semester. During the fourth semester, students write their Master's thesis.

Teaching methods include lectures, case studies, management simulations, team work, presentations and assignments. Interaction between students and lecturers is fostered.

Study abroad unit(s)

Optional study semester at selected partner universities abroad during the third semester. For students who did not complete a study semester or an internship abroad during their Bachelor's programme, the study semester abroad is mandatory.

Forms of assessment

Students do one to two examinations per course, i.e. an assignment and a one-hour written examination. Each course corresponds to 5 ECTS credits; the Master's thesis corresponds to 30 ECTS credits.
Forms of assessment are assignments, written examinations, practical exercises, presentations and case studies. The Master's thesis is to be defended (viva voce).

Language requirements

Applicants must provide proof of their English skills. Test results submitted may not be older than three years at the beginning of studies.

English:
TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet-Based) Score: 90
TOEIC - Test of English for International Communication Score: 800
IELTS - International English Language Testing System Grade: 6.5

German:
Basic knowledge of German, A-level desirable

In individual cases, other documents may be accepted as a proof of applicants' language proficiency. Moreover, relevant study or work periods may be recognised, too.

Academic requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business management, economics or related programmes (at least 80% of the subjects of your Bachelor's programme need to be business and / or economics related)

Enrolment fees

Enrolment fees amount to approx. 300 EUR per semester and include various services such as a semester ticket for public transport in Osnabrück and the area.

Costs of living

Monthly expenses of approx. 500 EUR to 600 EUR should be expected, depending on personal needs and habits. This includes rent, health insurance, living, books and miscellaneous expenses.

Job opportunities

A limited number of student assistantships are available at the University of Applied Sciences. Moreover, students may find jobs in different areas outside the university if their residence permit allows for it.

Arrival support

International students are contacted by their buddy (student in a higher semester) before their arrival in Osnabrück. The buddy picks them up at the train station and helps with moving into their pre-arranged accommodation.

Services and support for international students

Individual counselling is offered by lecturers and the coordinator of the Master's programme. Lecturers offer counselling hours once a week.
At our Career Centre, students can find help with study skills, career counselling and personal goals.
The International Office is a place where international students are welcome at any time.
Furthermore, the buddy will be a contact person for the international student during his/her first semester.
Students are invited to join tutorials and to take part in JOIN OS, the Joint Cultural Programme for International Students in Osnabrück. German language courses, workshops and study trips offer the possibility to improve language and communication skills during the semester.

Accommodation

The costs for accommodation in a single room vary from 200 to 350 EUR per month. Rooms in student residences are offered by the Student Services Osnabrück (http://www.studentenwerk.uni-osnabrueck.de) and the International Faculty Office offers rooms to international students.
