This double degree programme is conducted in cooperation with the Università degli studi di Pavia. Students spend one year at the University of Tübingen and one year at the partner institution, earning a degree from both institutions. Students of this programme are full students at both universities.

The Pavia Tübingen dual degree programme provides students with a unique study experience. Designed as a two-year programme to be completed at both of the partnering universities, featuring a broad range of courses and granting two degrees, this Master's programme perfectly prepares graduates for an international career.

This Master's programme endows students with the skills and capacities necessary to succeed in the European economic world. With one academic year in Pavia, Italy, and one in Tübingen, Germany, students experience two cultures, two campus lives, and two academic practices. Graduates can look forward to excellent career perspectives in various sectors. By the end of their studies, they are granted two Master's degrees: the Laurea Magistrale degree and the Master of Science degree.

Students may choose to either start their Master at the Università degli Studi di Pavia or at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.
To complete their studies, students are obliged to obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits; 60 must be earned at each of the two universities.

Educational organisation

In Tübingen, students focus on up to three specialisations in economics, international economics, finance and econometrics. Their choice of compulsory and elective courses depends on the individual specialisation.

Studying in Pavia, students can choose courses out of a set of specialisations in the field of economics, namely industrial organisation & market strategies, international economic Integration, and finance.

A series of additional courses on economic globalisation, like international trade, labour migration, international capital flows and international financial markets educate students to become true experts in international economics.

Study abroad unit(s)

Students are obliged to study at the Università degli Studi di Pavia in Italy for two semesters. 60 of the 120 ECTS credits will be obtained at the partner institution.

Internships

An internship is not compulsory in Germany and Italy. However, there is an office that assists students in finding an internship.

Forms of assessment

In their year in Germany, students opt either for a total number of 60 ECTS credits earned in courses, or they choose to write their Master's thesis in Tübingen (24 ECTS credits) and thus have to take courses worth 36 ECTS credits.

In Pavia, students will either take courses of three, six or nine ECTS credits adding up to a total of 60 credits after their year in Pavia, or if they choose to write the Master's thesis in Pavia (24 credits), they must obtain 36 credits in courses. The Master's thesis must be defended in Pavia.
