This seven-semester Bachelor's degree programme offers an impressive curriculum of subjects in textile and clothing technology and related fields such as chemistry, design and technical textiles and subjects in management and business administration like controlling, fashion retailing logistics, eCommerce and marketing.
Under the instruction of internationally renowned professors and scientific and well-educated staff, the course guarantees a scientific education oriented on the demands of industrial branches and international business. The course programme is completely taught in English.

The Bachelor's course consists of five parts:
10% Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Information Technology
30% Textile Technology covering the complete textile chain
30% Management and Business Administration
25% Clothing Technology
5% additional subjects like Design, Communication and Intercultural Management

In addition to that, English language skills are offered (Technical and Business English) as well as practical trainings in different labs (Spinning, Weaving, Knitting, Sewing, Finishing, Colour Printing of Textiles, CAD systems, Quality Testing).
A study work and two project works are obligatory in addition to an internship or a study semester abroad. Soft skills are offered in seminars/workshops to increase general competencies.

Semester 4: Electives (five subjects chosen from Management, Textile, Clothing and Design), Study Work

Semester 5: Electives (five subjects chosen from Management, Textile, Clothing and Design), Interdisciplinary Project

Semester 6: Internship (20 weeks) or semester abroad

Semester 7: Workshops (Scientific Methods, Final Thesis), Bachelor's Thesis and Colloquium

Study abroad unit(s)

Internship (home country or abroad) during the sixth semester,
alternatively: semester abroad - the faculty has cooperation agreements with 40 foreign universities.
A double degree programme is possible in cooperation with the Polytechnic University of Tianjin (China) - the course is extended to eight semesters (three of them in China). A Chinese language course is obligatory.

Internships

An industrial internship of at least eight weeks is to be completed by the start of the third semester.

Course objectives

"Generalist"
The Bachelor of Science in Textile and Clothing Management recipient is qualified to work in the whole textile chain, especially at the interfaces between technical and commercial staff, technical staff and designers as well as research and development staff and management.
An excellent knowledge in technologies, production and management processes is achieved so that the students become textile and clothing professionals who are well-prepared for the international business.

There is only a restricted number of study places for international students.
The decision on the allocation of a university place will only be made after 15 July.

Enrolment fees

"Semesterbeitrag": 280 EUR per semester
Fee includes a semester ticket covering public transport in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Costs of living

Approx. 700 EUR per month, including mandatory health insurance

Job opportunities

Applicants should not count on financing their stay in Krefeld or Mönchengladbach by working part-time during their studies; however, some students are successful in finding part-time jobs either at the university or elsewhere.
