There are several reasons why the University at Buffalo MBA program is the elite MBA program in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of the top MBA programs in the country. Bloomberg Businessweek has ranked our program No. 39 in the nation and within top 20 for public MBA programs. Forbes also ranks our program as #2 in the US for fastest payback on your MBA investment. Renowned faculty, high-caliber students, outstanding services and successful alumni are just a few of the reasons our MBA program is an excellent choice. Our full-time MBA program admits in the fall only.

The University at Buffalo MBA program combines the depth of a strong management core curriculum with the breadth of career concentrations.

The full-time curriculum blends required foundation-building courses with flexible, career-targeted electives. The two-year format allows you to build extensive career networks both inside and outside of the school, gain further real-world experience and engage in a comprehensive job search. Our faculty continuously reviews the curriculum to maintain a strong foundation while keeping abreast of industry changes.

Developed with input from corporate recruiters, alumni, faculty, staff and career experts, our MBA curriculum provides the skills that individuals and organizations need for our globally integrated world of business. Team skills, quantitative analysis and integrative analysis are fundamental to the program, and the design also allows students flexibility to take advantage of our rich selection of concentrations and the LeaderCORE™ program.

All applicants who are not native English speakers, including those who are transferring from or who have completed degree programs at other U.S. colleges or universities, must prove their English language proficiency by taking a standardized test and reporting the score to the University at Buffalo. Unofficial score reports may be uploaded as the admissions office has the ability to verify scores.

The following tests are accepted:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
The school generally requires a TOEFL score of at least 570 or 230 on the CAT TOEFL for admission. The IBT TOEFL is also accepted, with a preferred score of 95 or better and no section lower than 22. Your TOEFL score report must be dated within two years of applying to this university. The school code and department code for the University at Buffalo are 2925 and 02, respectively.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE)
The university has established minimum acceptable scores at a 73 total and a minimum of 68 on each of the individual sections of the PTE. Students who enter the program with the PTE will be required to take an institutional TOEFL after arrival at the university at no cost.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
The university requires a score of 6.5 overall with no section less than 6.0.

We offer assistantships, fellowships and scholarships for highly qualified MBA applicants to help offset our already competitive tuition cost. Both domestic and international applicants are considered for these opportunities. There is not a separate application process for scholarships, fellowships and scholarships, with the exception of the Arthur A. Schomburg Graduate Fellowship, the Robert Balk Scholarship and the Western New York Prosperity Scholarship.
