The PRTM – Program Management concentration is accredited by the National Recreation and Park association, and is acclaimed as one of the top undergraduate programs in North Carolina.

Students interested in Program Management have a strong desire to work within a community setting to provide leisure experiences such as: special events, classes and programs at recreation centers, athletic programs for the youth, activities for senior citizens, camps for youth, health programs for residents and more.  The curriculum is business management focused, so students learn to provide sustainable and economically affordable experiences in order for their communities to remain active and sustainable.

The Program Management concentration is designed to provide students with opportunities to apply critical course concepts in hands-on ways, both in the classroom and in the community.

Courses utilize a combination of lecture, guest speakers, field trips, service learning experiences, and practical exercises to stimulate discussion, critical thinking, knowledge and skill attainment. Guided reflection enables students to maximize their learning from these experiences.  Additional professional knowledge is gain in a ten week required internship.
