The Master of Engineering (Water Resources Management) aims to provide graduates and current practitioners with an advanced level of knowledge and skills in a range of areas relevant to the water sector of Civil Engineering.

You will develop skills and abilities to synthesise water and environmental engineering theories and apply them to solve practical cases, create and design water resources and quality management models, adapt hydro-environmental data analysis methods, integrate modelling technology and consolidate GIS applications in forming water management systems.

This is a flexible qualification providing you with an advanced level of knowledge in areas relevant to the chosen specialisation. An exit point is available at the successful completion of the first year with a graduate diploma level qualification.
 

The program requires completion of 58.5 units of core courses and 13.5 units of elective courses in water resources management. On completion of these courses students should be able to: 

  • Apply and synthesise water and environmental engineering theories in solving practical cases 
  • Create and design models to be used in areas such as water resources and water quality management 
  • Adapt hydro - environmental data analysis methods at advanced level 
  • Integrate modelling technology and consolidate GIS applications in forming comprehensive water resources management systems 
  • Develop advanced skills to communicate with water and environmental related professionals 

Applicants are required to have:

  • A completed four-year Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
  • A Graduate Certificate, or Graduate Diploma in civil engineering

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor degree in civil engineering; or Graduate Certificate in civil engineering, may be eligible to enter the program with 0.5 EFTSL Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1.5 years of full time study or equivalent part time study.

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor (Honours) degree in civil engineering; or Graduate Diploma in civil engineering, may be eligible to enter the program with 1.0 EFTSL Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1 year of full time study or equivalent part time study. 

A related discipline may be other four year duration engineering or science degrees depending on the specialisation selected. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements, will be assessed on a case by case basis by the Program Director.
 

 

 

 

 

English language entry requirements

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship

International students may be eligible for a 50% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for up to four years of full-time study. Up to 20 scholarships are available in 2017 for students who have applied to study a UniSA undergraduate or postgraduate (by coursework) degree. 

International Merit Scholarship

International students may be eligible for a 25% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for their first year of study in this program.
