By understanding the international, political, economic and to some extend legal dynamics that shape the world we live in, you are able to critically analyse and understand political and business dynamics and how they influence each other.

The integration between business, politics and law
The integration of international business and politics is central to the programme, but it also covers key aspects of international law.

You learn about international businesses, national and international political institutions and NGOs and how these different actors cooperate, compete and influence each other in an international environment. You learn to navigate and analyse the grey areas between international business, international law and national, regional and international political systems in order to understand contemporary changes in world society. You gain knowledge of political institutions and how they create, adjust and limit markets nationally as well as internationally. These regulations affect companies as well as they themselves affect political decisions and the political environment. You are provided with the qualifications to understand and analyse these types of interactions.

Possibilities for action in the world society
The programme offers you an in depth understanding of how political institutions, businesses and NGOs act in a complex world, what their possibilities for action are, and how they handle problems that arise. You get knowledge and an understanding of specific contemporary issues and problems, such as the role of public-private partnerships in addressing environmental, social, and human rights problems around the world, the role of business in civil wars and other situations of conflict, and the problems and challenges of creating international business standards, for instance concerning accounting and corporate governance.

International business strategies
The internationalisation of business and strategies of transnational companies are in focus with emphasis on their internal management, their international strategies and relations to political institutions. You will learn to contribute to international business strategies, while taking societal issues into account. An example could be to analyse the political, economic and legal challenges in the energy market before creating a strategy for a company within the energy sector.

What gets you the job?
In this programme you gain an international perspective and understanding of the practical problems that international organisations face within the areas of international business, politics and law.

You gain strong analytical competencies, based among other things on the ability to identify and analyse political, economic, and to some extent legal aspects of problems. The knowledge gained and the strong analytical proficiency is an important asset in future careers.

Career opportunities
The career opportunities are broad and graduates pursue careers within many different areas. With an MSc in International Business and Politics you can for example pursue a career within international businesses, consulting companies, interest organisations, NGOs, and public organisations such as ministries, the EU, or the UN system. Some IBP graduates have also started their own companies.
