Today, with students from 55 different countries, the Near East University established in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, has earned a well-deserved international identity, offering high-standard educational opportunities with its qualified academic staff and the well-established infrastructure. The Near East University is a full member of the European University Association (EUA), of the International Association of Universities (IAU) within the body of UNESCO, International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP), Joint Commission International (JCI), and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW).

INAR 504 FURNITURE AND FURNISHING SYSTEMS IN INTERIOR SPACES (3-0) 3

Studies on furniture and equipment systems within the frame of function, culture and technology.

INAR 505 VISIUAL COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS OF INTERIOR SPACE FURNISHING (3-0) 3

Analysis of fixed and moveable infill of spaces within the frame of visual perception and communication dimensions. The evaluation of visual perception and communication facilities on movable and fixed interior furnishing.

INAR 506 MODULAR COORDINATION (3-0) 3

The aim of the course is to emphasize the importance of standardization in building components together with the discipline of Dimensional Coordination which is the most important factor in the industrialization of the building process, the course also explains the modular concept and deals with the size and location of components and elements of construction by referring to examples and by providing some modular design practices.

INAR 532 MACRO AND MICRO SCALE PROGRAMMING AND PLANNING PRINCIPLES FOR BUILDING TYPES (TOURISTIC BUILDINGS), (3-0) 3

Introduction to discipline of planning and programming in architecture and description of concepts. According to building types; planning and programming relationship, and description of planning and programming concepts are analysed. Programming approaches and periods, organization systems, activities systems and their relations are examined. Analytic studies of program capacity, dimensions of spaces, users needs, structure of programming, and changes during life-cycle are considered. Comparison of building programming methods and technics. Research and analytical studies on applied examples according to typology.

INAR 543 PRODUCTION & MATERIAL (3-0) 3

The application possibility of construction materials according to the construction system and technology. The theory. The physical and chemical properties of materials. The strengthening of constructional system of building.

INAR 549 PRODUCTION DEFECTS (3-0) 3

Definition of building and constructional defects. The systems of traditional and developed building types. The inspection of relations between construction and material, labour, constructor design and economy. Analyzing details and design mistakes and researching the solutions. The research and analysis on examples.

INAR 581 USERS NEEDS (3-0) 3

Users needs as a course includes environmental factors which are required for individual or communal activities. Physical and psycho-social needs and user needs according to building typologies are also examined within the frame of performance criteria

INAR 582 ARCHITECTURE AND IDENTITY (3-0) 3

Architectural identity changes according to the different geographic areas and sites in which different societies live. Aim of the course is the examination and identification of factors, that are the causes of the formation and change of architectural identity. Definition of cultural, personal, group, social, environmental, urban, institutional and architectural identity and interactions between them. The main notions of human, environment and culture, relations between them and their effects on architect profileand architectural identity, the visual architectural identity components.

* OBLIGATORY COURSE

Note: Post graduate students must complete courses of total value 21 credits. (7 courses). For graduation their thesis must be approved.

Requirements for Applications to Postgraduate Master’s programs of Near East University are as follows:

  1. Graduating from a BSc or BA level undergraduate program (Min. CGPA 2.50)
  2. English Proficiency: TOEFL and other Qualifications may be considered.
  3. Turkish Proficiency (Required only for foreign students applying to Departments whereby the language of instruction is Turkish. Students applying to the Faculty of Medicine or Dentistry are required to have knowledge of the Turkish Language before beginning clinical training).
